I've got a '45 Td-6 that I need to change the gear oil in. The old oil has probably been in there for 40 years and is very dirty. How can I clean it out without contaminating the new oil I put in. I have to take out a steering clutch so I will have everything open. Any suggestions?
Thanks, Paul

Paul, I have just done this to my TD-6, i had the whole back end apart , took the steering clutches out and also took the top of the trans, drained all the old grease and then spreyed the whole inside of the trans and diff case with ovencleaner and let it set for 15 minutes then preasurewashes it out.. then took compressed air and dried it out.. worked great for me.. had to also take 1 finaldrive apart to replace some bearings and seals, the grease was so thick i had to scoop it out with a putty knife.. all the oil pasages were pluged up with the same thick grease.. thats why the bearings went..its important to clean all the oil flow pasages.

Thanks Clark! I had a right side drive clutch that wouldn't work, but after sitting for awhile it's fine, so if it ain't broke don't fix it!!!!
Just got done fixing the radiator, had a gigantic hole in it. tore everthing apart, soldered up the tube, new gaskets and no leaks and runs about 170 degrees. Say you wouldn't happen to know the what the differance is between a H4 and J4 magnito is?
I've been wanting to do a tune-up on the gas side but need to know what kind of mag I've got. They have some real cheap parts here on the web site under the International MD tractor. Thanks, Paul
