Allison Auto Transmision with air brakes/Question

Have a Dynahoe with an Allison transmission and air brakes. Transmission will work perfect one second & then next act like you have your foot on the air brakes effectively declutching. The manual is very vague in this area. An Allison with air brakes is pretty common on big payloaders. Getting up in there to see anything is very difficult. Can anyone tell me how the transmission/air brakes/declutch interact so I can try to figure out why one minute I have all the power in the world & next minute little too none? My instincts tell me it's in the declutch but I am aware it may well be a failing transmission.....

If I am understanding what the guys below are telling me, would a good test be to warm the machine up, shut her down & bleed the air of the brakes then start her up & try her immediately for transmission power before she has a chance to pump up the air brake air?

Don't use the brakes to bleed the air for that puts moisture where it can do damage like the with the clutch cutout. Always drain the air tank. Problem with compressed air is condensation which needs to be drained daily or after each days use.

If its like the Case wheel Loader Allison, there is a clutch cut valve on the lower part of the control valve. Take this little round valve off, diassemble, clean, and reinstall. It should only take about thirty minutes and you're back in business.

This machine is currently sporadically used as a back yard toy. Sitting around is never good for equiptment.... When it was in regular use before I got it everything worked fine. While the post below may be my final solution, I'd like to try yours. The round mechanism you refer to- Would it be located up by the air brake assembly operated by the foot pedal or down where an air line goes to the Allison transmission? & THANKS!!!!! The rig idles well enough/low speed enough that the torque converter disengeges due to rpm so declutch isn't that importantant to me but once in a while one likes to goose up the engine speed while raising the bucket..

Its located on the Trans on the bottom of the trans control valve.

i have a MF-66 wheel loader with the allison that was doing the same thing so i just plug the air line going to the trans. so it will not declutch just shift in to net.instead of declutching. brakes work fine so don't need the declutch . been running for a lot of years that way

If I understand correctly, it takes air pressure to a connection on the transmission to declutch & without sending air pressure the clutch will not activate/drop power? If that is correct I am in the process of starting to understand the mechanics of the thing. THANK YOU!!!!
