I am using an 1940's D7 Cat pulling a cable scraper.. all seems to work good except that after I used it for a while the winch that opens the gate and ejects the dirt would slip so I was haveing a hard time even getting the gate open let alone get the dirt out.. is there some simple way to setup the winch clutch so it dont slip?

Hi, T16, on the side of the CCU that operates the eject system of the scraper, you will notice a large square nut with a grease zerk in the middle, on the outside of this is a half inch locking bolt. Loosen the nut on the bolt a turn or two, and turn the square nut clockwise, just a bit, maybe an eighth of a turn, tighten the lock bolt/nut and try it out.....might have to do this a time or two to get it right..... be careful not to overtighten, as this will burn the clutches. Should have said that this big nut is in the middle of the big cover plate. This setup is used on the #27 and 21 cable controle units, [CCU]. Please let me know if this does the trick..... it has been a day or two..... have a gooder, R.E.L.
