Bob, I have a manual, I can scan the relevant pages and e-mail them if you want. It says to use a slide hammer to pull the pinon shaft. Also pull the shaft out only far enough to remove the clutch and use penetrating oil to aid shaft removal. Also becareful not to drop the inner thrust bearing assemblies into the sprocket drive housing. Using a slide hammer as the shaft moves out, it must be carefully tilted down to prevent the aforementioned thrust bearing from dropping. Support the clutch assembly being removed so that it does not drop. Good luck, e-mail me if you want jpgs.

Why do you want to remove it if your working on clutches? If only wanting to remove clutch packs, remove other side pinion, and then push bevel gear shaft through enough to remove pack, then push back to center or pass center to remove other pack.
