Between leaking and the occasional lock up the valve bank on my backhoe could use rebuilding. So far the one place I've went to to get it rebuilt or at least get parts told me they won't touch it and they dont have parts for it. Can it be rebuilt or is there another valve bank I can replace it with that is still being used and can be serviced? I'm not opposed to slight modifications to get it working. Also I replaced the bad return hose with a smaller diameter hose, 1-1/2-2.00 down to 1/2-3/4 the same as the rest of the hoses. Could this be creating too much pressure in the valves which causes it to lock up? Specifically the valves all try to push out the top and everything curles up to the transport position and the stabilizers retract and I can't use it till the next day.

We have exactly the same problem. I am not much of a mechanic. From yyour post it seems like trial and error for us still. We have one that hooks on to back of the tractor. When my dad had the hydrolics really pumping on the tractor by revving the engine we had aq lock up. Still so far I am digging to the side, the dang thing always wants to curl up

Smaller hoses shouldn't bind up anything but could make that circuit operate a little slower.I have a hoe that the main supply line 1 1/4 line blew and the only thing I could find to patch it up to get it home was a 1/2" hose and some pipe fittings worked fine ,used it for a week or so like that,I'm sure that the flow was restricted some though.
