I was looking at a dozer that a person wants to sell but has not advertised yet. It's a 1150(no letter)6 way blade, been sitting for a few years.Pins are nice and round and track parts do not seem worn.Needs batteries, starter work and maybe a radiator recore to start.A neighbor has a 450 case and he said he would help me get it going before buying it.The guy wants 5000.00. #'s on engine are--- A401BD 2309237. What would an injector pump rebuld cost ? How is parts availability ? Would I get hurt if it costs me an extra 1000.00 to get it running decent.I will only be using it on my own property. thanks Ed

Just one man's opinion....we had an 1150 for a while. We always joked that we needed to drag a magnet behind it. We traded it in on a smaller Dresser TD8 and had much better luck. Mostly due to the fact that the TD8 never left a trail of parts on the ground....

Personally I cant gamble with $5000 I would hafta know the major components works (trans., hydraulics) and to know this the engine has to be running, why are you suspecting a inj. pump rebuild? That could nearly eat up your extra $1000 you talked about, parts are still readily available, the 1150 was a good machine but quite a bit more complex than say an old Cat or JD, good undercarriage is a plus tho. Might talk to whoever owns it and see if they will help bear the cost of getting it running even if you dont buy it it will help the machine sell when he does advertise.

$5000 for a 1150 that's not running, seems a little steep to me. You may have trans problems, Hydraulic pump may not lift the blade and you'll never know it with the engine not running. Then again the blade may not lift due to the relief valves in the cylinders. Be sure to check over the suspension, the torsion bar suspension may have transfered the power to the ground really good but it was known for wear due to work involve in lubricating them. Also the 1150 is close to 30 years or more old. Parts shouldn't be a problem getting from Case or Tisco and the injector pump should be rebuildable at any reliable pump injection shop. Good luck on your decision, I'm not trying to look at the bad points, just a few to be aware of.
