Manuals: Got mine from Dresser before Komatsu bought Dresser. I would be hard pressed to say the manuals were worth the money they charged, as they were photocopied photocopies of blurry microfiches - the text in some manuals was so blurred as to be nearly useless. But then again, something is better than nothing, considering the age. Tim - Looks like you only have a portion of the maximum rear weight complement; I got 6 more leaves of weights with my rig. My 500C came with 3142A backhoe, when the hoe is mounted, the 500C really needs the front of the machine to be counterweighted, I put the weights in the bucket when the hoe is mounted. My machine is about the same age, and is also 3 cylinder diesel, yours is obviously diesel as well. If you could, please post your transmission temperature, I think I'm running mine at ~230-250 Farenheit operating temp. Or maybe (I hope) the temp sensor is really wrong. Steering Clutches.... IIRC, a company named Rockford made my steering clutches; whatever the name, they still made clutches as of 2 years ago. Maybe somebody could email them about parts availability - I dropped an adjuster a couple years ago when grading and it tore out a single spring on the pressure plate. Now that side is a tad weaker and slips, so I'd like to get the spring and cup, or possibly an overhaul kit. Tip: my machine has the 2 stage hydraulic pump for the hoe attachment. The inlet (suction) line would leak about 15 gallons per winter, no matter how much I reefed on the tubes nut. I used a Loctite sealant on the flange and now I lose only about 3/4 gallon per year including winter. If I forget to come back, feel free to modify the email address to remove .org.edu and send me a message.
