I have a 97 Case 888 wheeled excavator fitted with blade and stabilizers,I was grading and lifted the blade up and it would not come down again,I called a Case engineer and he checked all the valves and pressure, undone the lines on the ram but to no avail,he then tried to remove the ram but it is under pressure (he said that the pressure was due to the check valves on the ram which are built in and cannot be removed) the pins could not be got out,he then wanted to cut one pin to release the ram but I would not allow that, anyone got any ideas
Thanks in advance PKJ

You do not have a problem with the ram or hydraulic's when this happens, the blade has gone to high and the ram has gone over centre, with the engine stopped pump the servo primer on the floor of the cab to release pressure in the lines put the lever to up and down while pumping.get a bottle jack and put it in front of the ram and pump it out till the ram goes back in place, its only out half an inch so you will not notice it when you look, after you get the blade down lift it up again and leave an inch of the chrome of the ram rod shown, get two pieces of inch and half metal by about four inches I use old cutting edge and weld them to the side of the frame over the lift arms to stop them going all the way up and the ram from going over centre again, don't stand in front of the blade while you are using the jack without having some blocks of wood under it in case it falls on your feet, don't forget to isolate the alternator while welding on the blocks, put the earth of the welder as near as possible to where you weld.
Good Luck

The ram locks up when the bell-crank it is attached to turns up too much and when go go to lower the blade the crank goes the wrong way,get the stops welded on and it will stop it happening
