I'm looking at and want to buy this 1990 450G dozer. It has 4500 hours on it. The dealer says it's a good dozer. It has a winch. It sounds good running and the dealer wants $29,000 for it. Can anyone give me some advice on what to look for and what do you think of the price.
Is a undercarriage about do for replacement with this many hours and how many hours can a person get on the motor and transmission before an overhaul. I would like several opinions out there from everyone. This is the only way to get educated. Thanks for any information. Rick

The dealer should have undercarriage people there that can tell you how much life is left...If its a direct drive machine, make sure it stalls the engine or overpowers the brakes in all speeds..I think the torque converter units came out later...Check the front blade pivot. Early machines had a greasable pin that wouldnt take grease after the first month !!..There is a modified pivot(ball and socket type) that is preferred...They are pretty good machines though...
