My dipper ram leaks a good amount of hydralic fluid. Is it worth attempting to fix the seals myself? I was quoted a estimated price of $800.00 from a local shop. To me that seems a little pricey. especially when he tells me that the parts will cost $30-$40. If somebody could help me out it would be greatly appreciated. 302@comcast.net

Greg, that price is outrageous. I had my boom cylinder on my JD repaired for about $250. That is the biggest cylinder on the machine. I would check around. Is this a hydraulic shop or a mechanic shop. Unless it needs rechrome or something like that, that is way too much money. Hope this helps...Emery
