I'm going to be working on a JD350 or jd350-b Dozer(diesel). I never worked on this model before. There was a loss of power and allot of oil pouring out of the blow by tube. I'm thinking a hole in one piston or cracked rings.I still have to get a shop manual but I would like to know if anyone has had a similiar problem and if I would be able to do the job with the engine in the dozer or if I have to remove it. Most likely I would have to remove the bucket and take off the front nose. I would appreciate any advice before I start to tackle this job.

you must remove the schroud over the radiator and remove the engine and do a complete out-of-the frame overhaul. ITS PRETTY SIMPLE JUST WATCH THE TIMING AND MAKE SURE YOU MARK IT. grind the valves turn crank and cam shaft berrings and replace the sleeves and pistons and put new connecting rod berrings and main rod berrings for the correct size after they turn the crank and then you have a brand new that will last a long time. approx cost 12-1800$. and also replace rear and main seals (it makes it a lot easier to work on engine then)

Re: Shop Manual - Ask around and advertise your need on the net. I got a shop manual for my 350 off the net and paid $35.00 total for it. That included shipping. That manual sure comes in handy. BTW the nose is heavier than it looks. I used an engine hoist to move mine. Good luck and happy 350 days.

...you can rebuild the engine without removing it totally from the machine...raise loader (assuming its a loader and not a dozer !!) and support it with a suitable locking bar on the cylinders and remove the nose and belly pan...if the rear main seal is leaking then it is best to remove the engine . otherwise the pistons and liners and all bearings can be replaced with the block still in the machine...They are quite simple to rebuild...
