I'm in the process of removing the left steering clutch from my dozer. Got it to the point where I have put a lifting strap around clutch, removed last 2 bolts and it won't budge. I rechecked to make sure ALL the bolts where removed and they are.

I then proceeded to push and pull dozer to try to free clutch but no success. What else can I try??? All help is appreciated!!

Thanks, Tom

By "last two bolts" do you mean the bolts in the pinion flange? Sometimes the clutch sticks to the pinion flange and must be pryed free. The same can be true for the opposite end. www.pdmechanical.com

You're right. Left one bolt on pinion side and one on the opposite side. Slid lifting strap around. Removed both bolts and it wouldn't lift out.

You're suggesting that they are probably rusted or "frozen" to the plates they were bolted to. I suppose I could DW40 them and then try a small pry bar as you have suggested.

Thanks,
Tom

The clutch assy. should "colapse" slightly to facilitate removal. There is a shoulder on both sides that must be cleared. I believe you will need to remove actuating cylinder as well to provide enough clearance. www.pdmechanical.com

Your were right. WD-40 the heck out of it. Took a wide chisel and hammer. Gave about 6 good raps on each side and it let loose. Now just have to pull it out with the strap. Thanks for your help!!
