I have an opportunity to purchase a Dynahoe 290, I need it for personal use, just bought property to clear and build on. Is this a good machine? are parts available? What is a fair value? The machine looks good and has been maintained. What should I look out for? Thanks

yes its a very excellent machine, its a tough and ready to work machine.runs nice on the road. backhoe runs very smooth. its tougher than cat machines. if you take care of it and don't wait to the last munite to fix something, all the dynahoe's will last you a life time

This machine was a beast, basically a big, extra heavy duty TLB(tractor-loader-backhoe). A very rugged, tough machine, quite a bit bigger and heavier than the Others, JD's, Case's, etc. They came in 2 wheel drive and 4WD. Last forever, with those never-say-die GM Detroit, Clark (I think) drive trains, etc. Bucyrus-Erie (the greatest name in big power shovels) sold these machines for a while after they bought the Hy-Dynamic company that first made the Dynahoe. The 290 has got to be really big since the Dynahoe 190/200 spec sheet that i have shows the 200 to be the biggest TLB in the world. ARe you sure the one you are looking at isnt a 190? Dig to 20 feet(with the 200) break out 17,000 lbs with the loader. You didn't see a lot of these on your average construction sites since they were so big and not as handy to move around, but the town highway department where I live has had one practically forever, and it serves them well, they don't need an excavator since this out digs some excavators. I don't know if Dynahoe's are still being made. They might be, sincee Bucyrus-Erie sold Dynahoe to Terex, which makes and sells cranes and loaders. You could probably get parts and service at a Terex dealer, check the net A bit big for personal use, but then I like big and heavy. I'd snap it up if the price is halfway reasonable and you have a way to get it home. excuse the long post just got long winded. My $0.02, hope it helps. .
