Help! I'v got a 160CK Case/Poclain excavator about 1978/9,it was working fine when I used it on the last job,had it moved to another job and when I went to use it the hydraulics have slowed right up,had a local hydraulic shop engineer to have a look at it,he changed all the filters and cleaned the suction strainer, done a pressure test saying that the pressure was ok but the the flow from the pump is not enough and suggested that I look for a pump? I cannot belive that the pump would fail that quick without warning, anyone have and ideas or where a pump could be found. I'v only had the machine four months and don't know much about it always had Liebherr before.
Thanks in advance
Worried Tim

On the 160CK you have pump with six oil flows coming off it,under normal working all six flows are used.the machine has what is known as a heavy lift mode.in that mode the speed of the hydraulics slows right down as only one flow is used and it enables the machine to lift about three times more than normal, the machine is much more steady to handle.there is a lever in the right side of the operator seat on the floor with three positions.move it to the opposite position and see.you should know about that lever cos it also controls the tracking speed.the hydraulic pump was made by Poclain,I have never known one of them to fail apart from leaking from the shaft oil seal.the pressure settings, first the main regulator valve has to be locked, all the other valves are then set at 350 Bar,then the main is set at 320 Bar.it is my two cents worth that whoever moved your machine put it in heavy lift mode to load it and it is still in it.
Good Luck
AJ

Thanks everyone for the input,I am ashamed to say I had moved the lever AJ mentioned when taking out a set of jump leads and did not notice it,never knew it was there but good has come out of bad as I now have three speed tracking and heavy lift I did not know about before.
Regards
Tim

You should check the pilot pressure before anything else.Worked on a 125 Case Poclain that was slow.Ended up had a leak in the brake release system that caused pilot pressure to be low and not moving main valve spools far enough. The pump is a piston pump, but fixed displacement, uses pressure regulators to control flow.Kind of a nightmare to figure out at first.

Tim what type and make of pumps are on your machine? If they are piston pumps they may be getting a signal to destroke when they shouldn't be. Don't know much about your machine but lots work that way.

check your main suction hose from the tank to the pump it might be sucked shut or just the in side might have let go. had a massey 450 exc. that did the same thing it was the hose. drove me nuts for a week looking. good luck
