When I put my T6 back together I timed statically like the manual says to do (putting #1 cyl. on top dead center then turning the magneto until the impulse trips) but I didn't like how it was running so I put the timing lite on it and oops!

The first thing I found was that the way the manual says to do it is not very accurate and the second thing I found was that I had reassembled the magneto drive a couple of teeth off. It was was actually advanced 40°-50° BTDC and yet the factory specified method showed it to be right on. No wonder it was running loud and missing. It's a wonder it ran at all!

Now that I've got it all straightened out, where should I set the timing? It seems to run the best (and fastest) with it set 5°-10° BTDC. Is this where it should be or should it be right on TDC?

Thanks, Jeff
