I just bought this big Lop and yesterday while i was getting an old oak out, I crossed a drainage ditch that I thoiught was frozen and found something like Quicksand. My seat is about level with the ground. The towing place came out and said no way to winch her out, too buried. Any Ideas? I need to get it out before it rains or really freezes hard, or even worse- the neighbor sees me and starts taken pics.

That thing,in the mud, will weigh as much as a Brontosaurus. An excavator is excellent as it will pull back & up at the same time, where any other unit can only pull back, dragging you along & into the mud.Make sure chains are attached to strong points on both units ....keep well clear when chains are stressing.G00d luck.

HI I not know what a 977 is, I had a 4 wd tractor stuck but it was a dry up pond in summer time, you said it will frozen ground, rain would be a different story.. what you should do is start digging around it. maybe get a big back hoe come out and dig around then try pull out? that's a thought. I know that is real stress!! next time walk cross it! even if it holds you up but not the 977..

good rule of thumb when you get a dozer stuck is that it takes one twice a big to pull it out. a 977 is a pretty husky machine.. i would sudjest the you get a Large excavator and dig the 977 out then use the excavator to help pull it out . a word of caution, use good heavy chains and cables, hook solid to the pulling machine & machine to be pulled.. a chain or cable that brakes under high stress can fly almost anywhere. can kill someone. be very carefull.

I agree with using snatchblocks,,with enough snatchblocks and the right rigging you could almost pull it out by hand,,,A excavator should work as well, rent one or hire someone with one,You could also try using logs, or try to jack it up and put something solid under it, if all else fails,,bury it and put up a monument,,Best of luck,,Jim

If you have large trees close to the machine, I would find someone with a large winch truck with lots of cable and snatch blocks. Using trees for extra achors.

Had a D4D stuck in the mud once. Pulled it out with a 60 hp farm tractor using cable and snatch blocks.

Chained cable hook to one tree. Went to the dozer through a snatch block. Went to another tree through another snatch block. Went back to dozer through second snatch block then to the tractor. Tractor didn't hardly spin a tire.

Another way is. If you have some large trees lined up with the tracks, you can tie on to the trees and to the tracks themselves and let the machine walk out on the chains as rails.

Be warned. I have snaped 1/2 chains like rubber bands doing it this way.

Well, I've done it too. The way I got mine out of blue mud was to chain fairly good size poles to the tracks and let it pull itself out. It also might help to get down and have a word of prayer with it. Good luck!!

been there before, you need a large track excavator and dig youself a ramp in the back of your machine and put a chain around the bucket of the hoe and help pull your loader out. Its the only way..... ....

Ouch, and now double ouch. Going to have to get a dozer to pull you, maybe 2. Need something a little bigger than what you have stuck. My personal choice would be let the ground freeze solid. Going to need plenty of really good, really heavy chain

Last time I got something stuck (650 Deere) it took an 1150 Case and a 650 LGP to get me out. Took almost 500' of 7/16" chain. Not fun. I spent almost $800, my condolences.

You might try renting something for a day, get the biggest thing they have.

Thanks guys, I went and got me some 3/4 chain and tommorrow I plan to tie pole around the tracks, at least what I can find of the tracks, if that don't work I'll have to find a hoe, I'll keep ya updated.

Don't forget the bucket, use it along with the poles to back out.Roll it down to dump, push down with the boom, then roll bucket back.I was a tracked vehicle recovery mechanic in the U.S. Army,a rule of thumb was that when a tracked vehicle was mired in mud over top of tracks it effectivley multplied weight of the machine by 4.Good luck.
