We just bought a D3 built in 79. Any good points/bad points or recomendations for a crawler rookie?

It came with a rake and winch. We plan to clean up our roads and push up some treetops to burn.

Thanks for any info.

smurph72;

Have owned my D3B for almost a year. NICE machine for the size. Only suggestion I have is to keep the undercarriage as clean as you can, especially if you are in mud and it builds up. I tore a hydraulic hose on the lift cylinder because a "mud ball" got frozen, I didn't see it and I lifted the blade. Fairly easy to fix but could be avoided by hosing the thing off.

Besides that found my to be dependable! Have fun and be careful!!

I own 2 myself and they are great machines,however keep in mind the 3204 engine is a 2 ring piston engine and they will burn oil when the engine gets up on the hour meter,good to check your oil often if your engine burns blue.Use 15w40 or 30W oil.

They are a decent machine, if you have problems come on back.
