Few questions on Ford 4500 (or I got lucky today)

I bought a Ford 4500 Backhoe/loader today from an estate with the understanding that it hadn't run in several years and maybe wouldn't. I put the battery charger on it and with one whiff of ether it started right up and I drove it home. The questions: What is the lever on the floor to the left of the seat? Looks like a parking brake but doesn't pull all the way up. (2) Both right hand tires are loaded but not the left. I have to decide to load all or none. What would be the advantage of loading the tires on a machine that already weighs around 12,000#? I will just be using it for small jobs (OK it's a toy) As usual thanks for the help. Dan J

T handle is the brake lock. lock pedals together, pull up on T handle and rotate 90 degrees, then press pedals down - should hear a ratcheting sound & brakes are locked. Turn T handle back and press on pedals to release. Steve

I have a 4500 Loader. That is the parking brake but mine is broken. I agree, load all of the tires or none. Mine are not loaded and I get plenty of traction.
