I bought an AC hd5g Last fall and am very pleased with it although I have a couple problems one is the starter I had the armature ground down and it worked great about 4 times now the starter wont engage If any one has a starter Please give me a shout (it has been converted to the ford type solenoid) 12 volt then this spring when she fired up it missed for a few minutes then ran out ok it ran about 10 hours then started hitting on only one cylinder please help where should I start looking. it did have a lose clamp on the fuel line feeding the fuel pump I changed the filters and tightened the clamp now the starter again

Starter full of oil is not a normal thing. Even on the leaky old Detroits, 271 and the 471. If you are leaking oil that bad to sling it back into the armature then you have a very leaky rear main.

Take the trany inspection plate off and see how much oil is in there On the bottom there should be an opening. If you have a lot of dirt in the belly pan then it will be pluged and you will have a lot of oil and water in there.

As for the starter. They used the Old ACDelco kick starter. The 271 starter are getting scare but I as of two weeks ago I knew where the was one in a 5b that had been ripped in half. Owner tried moving while it was still frozen to the ground and hooked on to the tractor frame and not the blade. Ouch.

Minnpar will have some parts, but you have to go through a dealer to get the parts. They have seals and other things but some parts are very scare, like rubber parts for the trany, gears parts for the trany, roller --non existent--....

Get starter rebuilt. or www.minnpar.com sell you a new one. blow out fuel tank. +fuel lines see if fuel is flowin

Gotter Goin the Starter was FULL of oil? and I blew out the fuel lines and changed the filters she runs like a top Thanks to all any Idea why the starter is full of oil

I have the same dozer.Mine also started missing on one cylinder.Found out it was having problems with resticted fuel supply.As with the starter I had mine rebuilt, new everything inside.
