My question is simple, is there any difference in a "crawler" and a "dozer"?

Acrawler dozer is a dozer on tracks - they also make wheeled dozers - rubber tired loaders with the lift arms and buckets off but put on dozer blades.

I'd say a "crawler" is anything on tracks. A "dozer" is a machine with a blade used for pushing material (tracked or rubber tired). A tracked machine with a bucket would be a "crawler loader".

Hi, Brad. The word 'crawler' is applied loosely to
track-type tractors in general, usually without a 'dozer blade. A 'dozer can be either a track-type or wheeled tractor fitted with a bulldozer blade. The odd thing here is that, among the initiated, a 'bulldozer' always refers to a track-type tractor and 'dozer blade while a 'dozer can be either track-mounted or wheeled and a wheeled 'dozer is usually referred to as a rubber-tyred 'dozer. (At least here in DownUnder - Australia.)
More information may be found by clicking on the link below.
Hope this helps.
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Technically, the word "bulldozer" refers strictly to the blade itself (V. Caterpillar nomenclature); a "crawler" is a tractor that moves on endless tracks instead of wheels; thus a "crawler dozer" is a crawler tractor equipped with a "dozer" blade. There are also "crawler loaders" which are "crawler tractors" that are equipped with front-end buckets instead of blades. A "crawler" is not synonymous with a "crawler dozer" nor a "crawler loader" inasmuch as long before crawler tractors were used with blades or loaders, they were used as drawbar tractors in agriculture. And, as someone above pointed out, there are wheeled tractors that also have bulldozer blades or loader buckets mounted; they are known as "wheel dozers" or "wheel loaders". These have large diameter tires, 2 at front & 2 at rear, and have no affinity to the smaller backhoe-loaders that you see with two large tires at rear & two small ones at front.
