Hi
I have a case 310e (I think) crawler loader. I know absolutely nothing about heavy machinery. This machine runs great, it has a diesel engine. The back wheel wobbles and binds up and the battery won't charge. I am looking for suggestions about the best way to fix these. This machine has a blade attachment that fits in the bucket and I am wondering if this is original with the machine. Any help would be appreciated.
Kevin

Sounds like a final drive gone bad. DON'T run it around anymore than absolutly necessary. You'll wipe out the pinion and bull gears if they're not already. You'll have to pull the final apart and overhaul it. Where are you located? We have replacement gears and brgs. for it when your ready.

I am in british columbia. Do I just need to pull off the one side, or do I have to take off both back wheels. Only the one is wobbling. Kev

Kevin,

Is the sprocket wobbling because the bearings

are worn, or because the splines in the sprocket

are worn out letting it flop on the axle ?

For now only the one side. I would check the oil in the other side though. You can also check for looseness of the other side with a long bar. Pry on the sprocket and note any side to side or up and down movement. There should be NONE. The final itself will need to be dismantled. It's not just removing the sprocket. If you don't already have a parts and service manual, I suggest you get one. We have new reprint manuals available.
