Can anyone provide feedback on a Cat 951 Crawler Loader. Anyone have a year reference for Serial # 86J1652951B? Can you tell the engine type and HP? Thanks for the help. Brad

Somewhere in the B series they switched the engine to a 3304 from a 330. I have a 951 B 86J434 that has the 330 that they say overheats, but i've never had it overheat in the 20+years i've owned it and i run it almost every day. I know someone who had a 951B 86J1900 that has the 3304 and it doesn't over heat either. I would recommend a 951B to someone who needs a machine for occasional use as they are all getting some age and rackin up the hrs. I've had good experiences with them and everybody i know that has had them liked them. No they aren't the machine a 955's are and certainly not what the rear engine loader are but they aint a bad loader. What is this guy asking for it. I'd give $10,000 for one in good shape today. Mine has definately given me years of good service and now has over 19000 hrs on it. My $.02 worth

Thanks John and Deas, this guy said this was an 82-85 model , strike one, and it was a B series Deas , so the overheating problem is pertinent. Search continues, fever rises...Brad

Hi, Brad. The original 951's - I can't remember the series designation - were a toy I did not have anything to do with. I did have a bit to do with 951B's and 951C's.

The 951B's had an overheating problem. The ones I worked with almost all overheated. The 951C's were an entirely different beast. I never saw one overheat unless the radiator was pretty much choked with dust and/or rubbish. Other than that, there seemed to be only occasional final drive trouble - like about one in ten or twenty 'catching the bug'.

Hope this helps.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
