Ford 550 backhoe--what hydraulic fluid to use?

Does anyone know what type of hydraulic fluid you're supposed to use in a '76 Ford 550 backhoe? It appears that the fluid functions for the transmission as well as the hydrualics, so I bought this "TDH" stuff that appears to be multi-purpose. Haven't put it in the tank yet, as it is high enough, but with some leakdown in the boom I know it'll need some eventually. Any knowledge on this? I just don't know if regular hyd. fluid would stand up to the high heat of the hydrostatics in the tranny.

I've had good luck with the trans-hydraulic fluid in the 5 gallon bucket at Walmart. About $25

I'm sure Ford would recommend that "134" fluid the dealers sell but actually any good "tractor" hydraulic oil will be ok, there is a difference between "tractor hydraulic" and regular hydraulic oil, I dont know what you have there but read on the bucket to see if it meets Fords specs. All that being said I have experienced brake chatter on wet-brake Fords if it didn't have the $40 a bucket Ford 134 oil.
