Serial # 96325
Will move forward and backward for about 8-10 minutes. Then it will stop moving. The next day, it will be as strong as ever, then repeat the same process until it reaches an 8-10 minute warm-up. Manual transmission with a torque convertor, that is a strong machine, until it runs for this short period.
What could be the problem?

It sounds like your clutch needs to be adjusted. It's slipping slightly and when it gets hot it can't hold anymore. Email me if you have any questions. I've run these critters for a good number of years and done my own mechanic work. Good luck. Larry

Jack I have a 21 #9800+, cable job. What is the torque converter pressure guage showing . Mine always runs about 40 lbs. I have a service manual and could ask another AC Owner what it might be.Is your torque converter pressure guage hooked up an working.

Hi, Jackie. From your description of the problem, I would guess at a problem with the torque converter pressure system that reacts to the oil warming and getting thinner, probably a pump.

I had a similar sounding problem with the steering pump on a Komatsu D65P sawmp dozer about eight years ago. It would steer perfectly for about the first 10 to 15 minutes then rapidly get harder to steer until it just would not steer at all. Leave it for a couple of hours and you could work it again -- for about the same time. Turned out the steering charging pump was by-passing when the oil got warm and thin. One new pump later, no problem.

Hope this helps.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Years back Dad had an early HD 21. Had trouble with the torque converter. There is a restrictor or something like that that uses the fuel oil to pressurize the torque convertor. The machine he bought somehow didn't have this restrictor. He got one, mounted it, piped it, and machine worked fine. This weekend I'll look over Mom's. There may just be a 21 service manual that has managed to survive hidden in her cellar. I let you know. Phil
