I have a 1985 D3B will the LGP tracks and 10' wide blade. I use it to clear cedar trees here in Texas. I like this small dozer because I can fix a thrown track in less than an hour and all other repairs can be made in the field. The machine is a little underpowered at times and I want to buy another dozer to help out with the clearing. I need a little more horesepower. Should I shoot for a newer D3B with narrow tracks, or try to get a D4 or D5? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi, Campro. If you're really serious about needing more horsepower, you also need more weight to get that horsepower on the ground. That usually means going up a size or two in the machine rather than up a model or two of the machine that is too small. Also, a newer D3B with narrow tracks will mostly put less of its grunt on the ground than your older LGP machine. For its size and assuming that the grousers are in reasonable condition, that little LGP machine would have a pretty fair grip on America.

Go D4 or D5 rather than a newer D3B.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
