I have a 420c with a 4 speed trans ,the problem is it doesn't want to stay in reverse ,when you put it in reverse it doesn't feel like it is going all the way in (like the other gears).I changed the cover and shifter forks and it is still the same.Nothing seems bent or wore out,is this a problem with the 4 speed trans ,I have a 420c with a 5 speed and it works perfectly.

Hey Steve, What does it do when the machine is stopped, engine off and standing still? Does it feel like it goes in all the way then? Just wondering.

Steve,
Double check to make sure there is no play in the shafts like a loose bearing. Under load they could be moving. Also check the gear to see of the teeth are tapered. Have seen on that will not stay in 1st, found out the gear was worn tapered.
