310B Backhoe

I have a 310B Back hoe after operating the machine for a few mins warming it up, the back hoe will not hold its place----- That is if you pick up the hoe about a foot of the ground it leaks down slowly... Have any Ideas please let me know. Thanks Ron B

Is it just the one cylinder that doesnt hold position ??? Is it the boom cylinder..the one inside the boom just at the rear of the machine?/ Try it in the opposite direction...with the loader off the ground, lift the rear of the machine slightly with the backhoe...if it settles in that direction also, the I would tend to think the cylinder packings inside are leaking internally...need to rebuild the cylinder...
