One of my neighbors has an old IH gas powered farm crawler circa 1960. He said it ran when ha parked it in his barn 20 years ago, but that the left clutch was bad. He also said parts are no longer available. Call me nuts, I'm kind of interested in making this old tractor go again.

Any guidance as to what this tractor might be worth? Are there any sources of parts for old IH crawlers? Is it worth the effort to restore this kind of tractor?

Guys, thanks for the information. I never cease to be amazed at the wealth and depth of information that is so gladly offered by fellow travelers. Guess it's time to go talk turkey with the tractor's owner and see if I can cut a deal.

F.P. Smith Equipment in Suisun, Ca. has dozens of IH crawlers to part out as well as many new old stock items. When I started restoreing my 1948 T6 I made a list of 73 parts I needed and they had 60 of them in new old stock.

  Their number is (707) 864-1122

There are parts around for all, some just more difficult to find than others. You can also cross reference a fair amount of parts to their wheel tractor brothers. I find they are more of a challange (casting sizes and weights) and more money to restore than a wheel tractor of the same size.

Check out Glenn Ayers' website, he's restoring an old IH T-340, and might have some info for you. You can also check with Ed from Crawler Heaven...He was really helpful with some parts I needed for my IH TD-340.

Thanks Mike ... But be Vewwy Verry careful ... I'm not sure if you're allowed to mention Ed/Crawler Heaven on this site. He was a vewwy vewwy bad boy & was banned from here. Seems like guys from several of YT's forums are getting banned for suggesting that parts be purchased anywhere but from YT. Go figger.
