I have a chance to buy a 175 trackloader that runs and drives, but won' t pick the bucket up off the ground more than a foot the tractor is cheap what could be wrong with the hydraulics and how expensive is a hydraulic pump if that is the problem?

First thing to check isthe hyd oil level. If the pump is making a noise and the level is up there is a suction screen and a filter in the hyd tank that may be plugged. Also check to see if the loader drifts down - could be the packing in the cylinders. I would also checkthe pressure before replacing the pump.

Sound like somthing simple the 175 is a powershift one pump operation if the tracks move the pump is good .I woul replace te filter and clean the screen and bleed the system.I purchased a IH 250 powershft for $1,200 a few years ago with almost the same problem except the bucket and ripper worked but the machine would not move this 250 sat so long soo much moisture built up in the hydraulic system the pump could not fully prime its self so I replaced the filter, cleaned the screen and changed 50 gallon of r/o trans/hydraulic and she runs like a gem. This machine is strong she walks rite through 60-80 ft oak trees stumps and all, like they are tooth picks .Then I walk over and pick them up with th 4in1 and pile them up like they are 2x4s ,even though I dont have much use for this size machine any more this baby is a keeper for me bottom end is 80% so I plan on having this one a long time . Good luck Jeff
