I see written through out this forum guestions on hydraulic problems. I've seen a lot of weird things over the 20+ years working for a Hough-International dealership here in the Midwest. And I figure, I should disclose this little known fact. Hydraulic hoses, as they become old, can develop an unseen problem, The problem being they turn into "ONE-WAY CHECK VALVES", usally at where there crimped together or make sharp bends. What happens is as pressure is applied and relieved to these old hoses, working and flexing the hose, the internal rubber lining cracks and will flap open and shut, just like a check valve, not allowing full flow, and sometimes no flow. This can cause bald spots on some folks, from scratching their heads, trying to locate these problems. Cylinders that don't extend or retract each time completely, transmissions that shift sometimes and not other times, and steering boosters that don't boost or boost when they feel like it. This hydraulic gremlin can be rooted out easily if one has other hoses to swap around. to check these problems. I hope this little tid-bit of "shop dope" helps you folks, It is sometimes better than spending $$$$$, you don't need to, or have! Thanks for your time, "Big Iron Brian" of Adeline, Illinois
