Fix it right. Have radiator take off the top and bottom and solder the ends of the leaking tube up. Bar Leak will ruin your motor over time; save a nickel now and spend big bucks later.

There is another product that is supposed to be better than barsleak and similar products. I don't remember the name now but it is something like KD-9 or something. I'll check at the parts store next time I'm there. You drain all the fluid, put in this product with water, run until hot, then drain again and let it sit over night. It is some kind of sugar that hardens when it dries. I used it on a car with a seeping freeze plug - worked pretty well for quite a while - not a permanent fix though. I was told that barsleak was not a good thing to use unless you were planning to tear the engine down in the near future - all the particles settled in inaccessible places and didn't allow the radiator to cool the engine as well. Don't know if it's true, just what I was told. Good luck.

I've used Barr's Leak since the 60s'....my weapon of choice in your situation....and it's still pretty cheap.....my 2 cents worth.

Was interested in this thread because I just found out that my old 92 Lexus sc400 needs a new water pump due to a slow leak. I've already sunk far too much into repairs this summer, and in retrospect I should have been shopping for another one. Any chance bars leak might buy me some time for the water pump?

Used a world of Barr's. Last 2 new trucks I bought had it put in them from the factory (could see it under the radiator cap). Patched a couple of radiators back in the early 90's with a stick of 2 part epoxy and 2 bottles of Barr's, still holding.

Cut that tube and solder the ends off.

your right it will stop the leak, but so will 10 pounds of flour. I had a drunk for a hired man once who swore pepper would stop the leak. it did also stopped the circulation. don't have the hired man or the tractor (junked it) anymore. bars leak is o.k. for a fix but you should do it right. good luck
