will a gas ax cut the cast rearend housing on a dozer? got one that is nothing but the housing and steering clutches. this would make removal very easy if it will cut it. i hate to do this but i have about 8 of these housings laying around and if one goes bad i will not replace it, so they aren't worth much. thanks in advance

Bob's right, a torch won't cut it like your wanting, but if you can get your hands on a plasma machine with enough amps, it will cut almost anything.

I never heard the term, but I like it.

If a 'gas axe' a gasoline saw with a metal blade, then yes, there's no reason it shouldn't chop up cast iron. If a 'gas axe' is a cutting torch, then it won't .

I have also heard it called a "smoke wrench", and a "#6 blue flame" wrench. Lavoy
