I have been looking at a JD 350B. The id plate says; type: 350BB serial # 129904T. What info does this contai? The machine has low hrs, just over 1000. The steering clutches are locked up real good, played with it for a while but couldn't get them unstuck. Owner says one side worked a couple of months ago, is it possible for the to be stuck so good in such a short amount of time?

Thanks again for all the help,
DerekCT

Serial numbers usually tell the date of manufacture and what, if any, options are on the machine, parts people will like you better if you give the serial number instead of the year model, in any given year likely there were changes to the machine and the S/N will pinpoint the exact date, hhhmmmm, a 30 year old machine with just over 1000 hours, I'm thinking either the meter doesn't work or it has been changed, I could be (and have been) wrong but that would come out to approx. 34 hours of use per year, its no wonder that the steering clutches are stuck LOL, I've seen clutches stick good enough within a months time you would have to tear it down and clean things up, condensation makes rust and rust is what sticks clutches, there is a few variables related to this such as how much rain an area has had, if the machine has been kept in the dry, how well is the clutch housings sealed up to keep condensation out. Good Luck
