Want to flush out the old (brown) antifreeze in a 310 JD backhoe diesel I just got.
What brand antifreeze should I use and how much am I gonna need? Any additives also?
What brands do I stay away from?
Thanks

Hello Ronald, there is only a handful of companies that makes all the anti-freeze that is sold, I buy whatever is cheapest more than likely it came from the same vat that the $10 a gallon Prestone did, I do recommend adding an electrolysis additive to stop liner pitting, 2 gallons should be enough to give a 50/50 mix.

gatractorman, where do I get that additive?
I tried some auto part stores no luck yet.
Also is antifreeze with Dextron ok to use?
Thanks

Your John Deere dealer would have it or I buy mine at my local heavy duty truck parts place, your probably not going to find it at an auto parts store or anybody that knows what your talking about LOL. You lost me on the antifreeze with Dextron I dont know what that is exactly, there is a Dex-cool on the market I think it is the red colored, extended life antifreeze but I dont know about it's suitability for a diesel.
