I have a Drott 150A crawler loader with the 4way bucket on it, the bearing on the right side sprocket/jackshaft went out some few years back, backed machine into the shed where it's been since, a neighbor, good friend has decided he wants to "tackle " the thing, wanting to trade for it. Anyway, he asked me to try to get the old girl started this morning, just to prove the engine, pumps and all are still operational, well, I had drained the water from the radiator, water pump, and block ( 3 petcocks) I remember vividly opening the petcocks, water squirting out onto the dirt floor, and walking away from the machine, last time I really paid any attention to it.I fired her up this morn, and proceded to put the hydrant hose into radiator to fill cooling system, the head seems to be cracked all over externally...on the side where the injectors clamp into head. The machine has a D.T. 282 International engine in it. Anyone have any experience with these engines ? Thinking "worst case" a complete engine, "beter case" another head, "best case" weld the cracks, replace the head gasket. When he came over this afternoon to check with me, he said that as I was cranking, white smoke was oozing from the cracks, but, as of yet, no water is in the crankcase.Any input would be appreciated, ie..parts sources, advice , ect. thanks in advance Sam Gerteisen
