Ok all you none JD lovers keep quiet !!! *lol* I presently have a 1964-1010c loader that I have had great luck with. I have an oppourtunity to purchase a 1974-350 for about the same as what I could sell my 1010c for. The undercarriages are comparable and the 350 had its engine rebuilt about 150 hrs ago. I dont know much about the 350 are they a huge improvement or should I stick with my 1010 ? I only use the machine at the cottage and never really work it very hard, pushing snow, digging a bit and using the model 50 backhoe that came with the machine. Any opinions ? Thanks in advance.

Feel the same as Lavoy!! I'v got the same setup as you, 1010 loader with a hoe from a 350.I'v ran a 350 and feel it's a better around machine. But,Make sure if upgrade to a 350 that the machine is good.Remember, you know what you have now.Good Luck!!!!

If you have to give up the hoe, keep the 1010. If you can keep the hoe, upgrade crawlers for little out of pocket, and you believe the two machines to be mechanically in comparable shape, do the deal. I have no beef with 1010's, we have 3 of them, but the 350 is simply a better machine. We have two 350's, so have run both models, and have gas and diesel in both models. The 3 cylinder in the 350 is a very good engine in gas or diesel.
Just my $.02.
