I am in need of some advice regarding the forward and reverse on a JD 420c. While doing a little light grading in my backyard i got stuck in neutral. The problem seems to be the forward/reverse stick. I did play with it a bit by wiggling a screwdriver for a while at the bottom of stick where it enters casing and was able to get it in reverse so i could park it in shed. Could anyone shed alittle light on this.

Thank You, Paul

Just got home, was at a swap meet.
I would guess that the detent ball has shattered and is jamming the shift rod. Or could be some other internal problem. Unfortunately I am afraid you are going to have to tear it down to find out.
