Haven't had a chance to try the steering adjustments you recommended on my T340. Too much grass mowing before it rains tomorrow! My buddy is looking at a T340 that he might buy. He says it has a 4 speed tranny and no TA. The serial # is
1368. Why does mine have 5 speed and TA? What year did this change? Thank you, Dave.

My T340 is a 1960 with 5 forward gears and no reverser and no T/A.Maybe being an agriculture version has something to do with it.

Hi,My 340 book shows three options...Standard,T.A & FWD/REV.I assume you would choose the trans. you need, depending on work performed ( towing/loading/etc).We don't see those units in Australia,so I'm no expert!I would like to own one.

Dunno Dave ... Never heard of one without a TA or the FWD/RVRSR , like mine has. Never heard of a 4 speed either. Doesn't mean there isn't one though.
ser# puts it at 1959 ... later than mine ... so it's not some prototype or something weird.
Maybe it's NOT a T-340 ?

I don't know much about the T-340 series line, but you could get the T4-T5-TD5 without a T/A or Reverser. There was just a jack-shaft from the clutch-housing to the tranny.

Shawn, After reading Jims & your post ... I took another look at my Owners Manual ... I'm now enlightened ! By gum I guess Just a straight 5 speed w/o TA or FWD/REV WAS an option. I never actually considdered it ... cause it sure is a waste of good space just to put a jack-shaft in there.
I'm still in doubt that it's a 4 speed though.
In light of this new info ... My call is gonna be ... (1)Wrong Shift Pattern Badge?
(2)Straight 5 speed with a boogerd up gear?
(3)Not a T-340?

BTW .. I sure hope my T-340 looks at least half as nice as your machines, when I'm done with it!

8^)
