Oddly enough my books don't show the prefix 2U &/or that kind of s/n #. They show 1U & 4U prefixes. By my book!! The last year for the 1U's was 1985 & the s/n # than started that yr. was 3985. The 4U's show going to 2001. But tha s/n's show that the #'s in 1986 started with 4071 & 1987 started with 40638 thru 41733 in 2001. Who knows why it's this way. HT

Thanks for the information. I took this serial number from the motor block. I didn't think it was the right one. I haven't been able to find it. Any ideas where it might be located? Could you tell me what year the 175 changed from B series to C?

if u took that # off the engine then its a Dt-407 u sure its a 175C???

IH used to have the 1st 3 numbers as the engine ID, the letter in the middle is the build country

the U designates it as being US built down here eg 358DTXXXAXXXXX 358 DT neuss & built at geelong

Should be, I think, on a plate on the side of the shifttower &/or the side of the set. HT
