Hey folks, got a little trouble with my d-20, when I raise or lower my blade, there is a hesitation when the blade has resistance against it for a few seconds, after this it is just as strong as it can be, will easily lift the dozer up or lift up anything I put it under, so I dont think it is packing trouble. I have tried to bleed air from it, but dont seem to get any from either side ( does this both up and down ) is there a special bleed procedure I am unaware of? thanks for the help....D..... ..

Your problem I came across on some of the big Komatsu's but I am not sure if yours is the same setup, the problem they had was,say you had the blade up and you let it down and kept the lever in the down position there was a noticeable hesitation before the pressure would come on the blade even though it went down as soon as you moved the lever, the hesitation was caused by the anti-cavitation valve been worn causing a cavity in the lines and hence the hesitation,if you got a book have a look and see if your tractor has one,as I don't know that tractor.

Aj, what you describe is what it does, a noticable hesitation when it goes down. If I dont allow it to pressurize it will actually come up when under certin conditions, if I let it build, it wont budge.

there is no slack in the controll lever. It has done this since I bought it so I am not sure of any major component replacement..... ....D....

D, unless someone else on the BB knows your tractor and if it has an AC valve I would have a word with the dealer, the purpose of the AC valve is to restrict the oil flow back from one side of cylinders so the other side is kept under pressure, you say the hydraulics are strong so the pump and cylinders are ok so it only leaves the control valve, the bigger Komatsu's had the control valve inside the hydraulic tank,I take it the hydraulic filter is clean and the right amount of oil in the tank, you could try a post on www.ibdozing.com their BB has a IH/Komatsu section.sorry I can't be of more help,I repair heavy machinery for a living but have not come across a D20,no dozers much in the city.

Does your blade control lever have alot of slop in it? If so it may be that the spool is not moving far enough to get pressurized oil to the cylinders quick enough. The only time you may have to bleed the hyd. system is when you have had a component open to the atmosphere, i.e. replacing pump, sealing valve, or servicing a cylinder and even then its usually not necessary to bleed it, if you have an air problem in the hyd. system it is usually picking up air somewhere on the suction side of the pump, anything after the pump will be a leak.
