I'm new to the crawler world, but have a chance to purchase an IH-6 dozer. It has been "restored", great sheet metal, works well, etc., but I have no idea of value - the guy wants $4,000 for it. It looks to be about 50's vintage from the grill, he didn't know.

I intend to use this dozer around the farm.

Thoughts most appreciated.

Tracks and sprockets in good shape? Make sure the tenioners have adjustment left in them. $4000 seems a bit high, but if the undercarriage is in rough shape he's way high.

Thanks, the undercarriage looks to be in excellent condition as well. I am going to work it a little more and then make him an offer.

Thanks for the input!

For what it's worth, It takes a pretty experienced eye to judge the condition of an undercarriage. You can't "see" all that much by just looking at it.
