I am new at purchasing equipment.... what would be a good price for a 1940's D-2 Cat? It has a crank starter and appears to run fairly well. Some leaks....

Thanks

Hi, Bob. Just a suggestion. Check that it IS a D2. To the best of my knowledge, there was NEVER a crank-start D2 built. They were all pilot motor start as the compression of the diesel motor was way beyond hand-crank starting and the early Cat (and many other) diesels often needed warming up a bit to get them to where they would start smoothly. The pilot motor was rope pull start.

You may be looking at an R2 which was a gas motor.

Hope this helps.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
