Anyone ever heard of such a thing? I bought a 450 track loader with an enclosed cab that had rear drive problems. Then I found a newer 450 loader that had a blown engine. Though I would take the two and make 1 good machine. So i decided to take the motor out that was running with rear drive problems and put the engine in the newer 450 with the blown engine. During the engine swap we noticed the engine from the first 450 (David Brown) was much bigger than the newer 450 with the 207 engine. We had to redrill the rear motor mounts and use the much shorter drive shaft from the DB engine. When at the case dealer trying to buy an oil filter for the engine they thought I was crazy! So I took the old filter and housing back into the case dealer. They said are you sure it's a Case. Finally the owner wanted to know why all his employees were looking through all the books. To everyones surprize he left for a coulpe of minutes and returned with a book of Case equipment made in Europe, and sure enough there it was, a 450 with a fully enclosed cab, with a David Brown power plant. So they orderd filters and wished me luck, they also said the DB engines were excellent and had more power than a 207 engine around 62 hp. Anyone ever run across 1 of these? Thanks, Paul

Paul,

About 12 years ago on of my customers carried a head of an 850 in to my shop needing resurfaced and a set of gaskets. he said the dealer couldn't supply any thing for the engine, and didn't even know what it was . With a little research found it was the same thing as small farm tractor engine , sent him to farm dealer for parts . Those are gray market tractors and don't even belong in this country . Same tractor came in 2 years later for front wheel , got a US wheel , almost fit but the bolt spacing was wrong by 3/8 inch , had to slot the holes to fit .
