My email dcroft@jps.net I have a TD-9 IHC H-4 magneto that ran fine when I parked the tractor, but I can't seem to get spark now. I have the ground strap removed and there seems to be an intermitted spark. ** Is it normal to see continuity between the end of the condenser and the body of the magneto,(or at least a very small resistance) or is that an indication that the magneto is grounded? I have a spare magneto and it reads the same? When I put a vom meter on the secondary terminal of the coil, I see a fluctuation of the meter to about 50 volts. This reading transferes to the coil wire, but I see no blue arc when I hold the wire near a ground? I have put in a new condenser, points, cap and rotor. Any suggestions? Thanks David

Did you get the mag going? If not check the wire from the condenser terminal and coil to the points. If it has the old varnished cambric insulation on it you probably have a leak. Replace it with a new wire. Make sure the condenser or coil terminals aren't touching the case somewhere. Check to be sure where the wire connects to points is not touching the case also. If you took the gears out you could have them out of time. Line the beveled teeth on small gear to the R mark for CW mag or L mark for CCW mag. L mark for your TD9. Otherwise you could have bad coil or condenser, shorted on ground kill wire or switch or terminal. Also make sure the new dist. rotor isn't cracked leaking and grounding to shaft. Have had this happen with new rotors before. I can test your coil and condenser and have parts if you need them. Hope this helps.
