I have a Case 310 diesel crawler/dozer, and there appears to be no way to kill the engine. I have been killing the engine by popping the clutch with the brakes on, but I'd rather hook up a kill switch. Does anyone know how to do it? Your help would be appreciated. Thanks Brad

The red mushroom button on the dash kills the fuel and shuts it down...at least on my 310...another tip the diesel starts much better with the throttle all the way down, that is down to idle. Mine always starts first turn that way

Brad, 310 uses a cable to shut down, it is connected to an arm on the back side ( block side ) of the injector pump . pull toward rear of tractor to shut down. If the arm does not shut it down then there is a little arm inside the pump that is either off it's shaft or broken . george

George, I looked at the pump, and there is a cable running from the back (block) side, and goes to a pull-type knob on the dash on the right hand side. I assumed that was the choke. I didn't see any other arms on the pump. Is this the shut down? Thanks Brad

Brad, It's a diesel. You shut off diesels by stopping the fuel flow to the injectors. Some injector pumps have the fuel metering valve connected to the throttle linkage. When you close the throttle all the way, it closes the metering valve. Others have a separate cable or linkage that connects directly to the metering valve in the injector pump. If you will get the operator's manual for this tractor, you may save youself lots of repair bills, clutch replacements, and you'll find the correct way to shut down the engine. Good luck with the kill switch idea, Jim
