our 300 ran around 150 sometimes a little lower but our 400 always ran lower but never bothered. There are 2 Filters on the powere shift they are on the left side as you sit on the machine on top of the power shift. Not very easy to get to. The last time I changed the filters they were the same as the engine oil filter. you may want to change them and see if that helps. The single filter on the opisite side is for the crown pinion and steering clutches. change that also. The specfied oil was MF1010 but we just used good tractor trans fluid. If you need I can get you the MF part No. for just about any part you need if you dont have a parts book. There is not much I don't know about the MF 300 Dad bought ours new in 1972. and the only piece we never had apart was the power shift. Dad still prefers that machine over any we have had but the engine uses to much oil and we don't use it any more. I just have not had time to rebuild the engine and with the other machines we have not been forced to make repairs so it just sits. Good luck (I will be gone from sunday morning untill friday night so if you need the part no. let me know today and I will go look it up)
