We had a 2010 diesel farm tractor that was missing on 2 cylinder. We rebuilt engine, had injector pump and injectors checked and repaired at diesel shop. After rebuild it still smoked from unburnt fuel and run on only 2 of the 4 cylinders until the motor loaded. When loaded, those missing cylinders would start firing and run great until the engine unloaded then back to smoking and missing. Had several knowledgable mechanics. Most said we had missed the timing marks. So we pulled the oil pan and check all the timing marks again. Same results. Rechecked the marks one more time, with mechanic looking over our shoulder. Refired it still same results. Started adjusting the timing, by turning the injector pump. The engine started running better but still smoked white (unburnt) fuel and missed. It did start better. We were at the end of the adjusting slots and the mechanic said we were going to have to drop that oil pan again and advance a gear 1 tooth. A brain storm struck and figured it was worth the risk so we removed the threads just under the bolt heads to give us 1/32" more rotation on the injector pump. Fired tractor off and ran like a champ the last 5 years. The mechanic wanted to check the injector timing marks behind the small window after we got it running and the marks were off 3/8". The mechanic had verified the timing marks once while the injector pump was off the tractor, and I had the diesel shop to show me how to verify the timing marks. Like to have gotten the best of us.

I have the same problem with my 2010 misses on one cylinder and smokes on startup. Once warmed up and under load runs perfect.
