I've got a 350b w\reverser(newer model); I've ADJ. the steering linkage and brake band as described in the manual(a dozen plus times now)and what happens is when I pull back on theLeft lever the she turns easily and when pulling the Right lever nothing happens, all stops. So I loosened up the the Left brake and same thing then pulled the Left steering linkage off and the same thing still. But pull the Left and it turns easily no bogging down just as if the clutches were hooked engaging. So is my thoughts right in thinking that the Left side clutchesare shot... and if so is this a Weekend or Week project.

Joel it sounds like you have experience in this area so it wont be a huge chore for you. Look closely at the seals and seal sufaces carefully when its apart if the shafts are pitted allowing final drive lube to foul your clutches youl be redoing this all over again soon.

Samething happened to mine. Left clutches are needing to be replaced. In regards to a weekend or week job? It all depends on you there. Left track has to come off, sprocket, final drive. While I had mine down, I ended up repairing more stuff. Undercarriage, pulled the motor, and all that stuff. So, if you had all your parts, steering clutch plates, pressure plate, throwout bearing, brake band on hand...You might get it done in a weekend. Good Luck!

Thanks Guys; I just wanted to make sure that I was making the right guess, I figure I might as well pull the right side as well and make sure that its alright too while I've got it down for the count. Later Joel

By the way any suggestions where to get the parts at decient prices, and about the after market clutches are they as good or better than JD. Iknow Jd's are about 40.00 and after market are around 18-20.

Hi Joel: I just replaced the L.H. steering brake band on my 350-B last week. Labor was about 12 hours, but running into the Deere store for parts took me out of the weekend deal. The brake band part was $335.00, which they knocked down to $305.00 after all my wineing. Best bet is to let Lavoy know what you need cause his price is less than half. Will have to allow time for shipping, time I didn't have this go around. Biggest part of the labor for me was getting the d--- rear counter-balance weight off, that was one heavy sucker. (Did I mention it is a loader?) Keep smiling!!

Joel, I would tend to agree that your left side clutch is slipping. Lavoy

Joel, Maybe a long weekend, but you know what will happen. You will get it apart and find that there are some other things that you just as well fix as long as you are in there. Lavoy

not sure what u mean by "all stops" if your whole tractor stops I'd say it sounds like your foot brake is working overtime. burnt out on JDs Steve

When it stops , I mean no more power is being transfered to the ground and no the brake isn't draging. All I was wondering was this the normal case of events or similar that happen when a clutch pac goes out.
