...or anyone else with "intimate" knowledge of Bobcats. Usually a JD guy so need a little guidance..The park brake does not work and I was wondering if there was a way to get the top chaincase cover off without removing the hydraulic pump and brackets. Not sure if it could be slid out from under the pump. Also, what is in the chaincase and the final drives/gear cases as far as type of oil..looked for some type of drain plug etc ... but haven't seen one yet...thanks in advance..

Hey Jonathan the park brakes never were much good on these machines, they used a brass dowel like thing that worked off a cam action from the lever to clamp on to a smooth plate inside the chaincase, if you have any adjustment left on the rod that goes thru the foot brake plate see if tightening it helps anything, you will have to remove the steering sticks and the panel they go thru to get access to the cover that houses the brake mechanism then you will need to remove the rear pump support to get just enough clearance to slide the brake out, just use hydraulic fluid in the chaincase and there is no drain plug on the 743's it has to be sucked out with a wet/dry shop vac.
