For those with tractors using this type of pump and you haven't, "Been there, done that," YET. If you get the service manual for Roosa Master type DB pumps, all your questions will be answered. In addition, you will have detailed step by step procedures that will help ensure a successful rebuild. Try binderbooks. com. The 59 page service manual I got from them was about $10. These pumps were used on many different makes and models of tractors. Stanadyne( Roosa Master's new name) makes a rebuild kit available from your local injector pump shop for about $30. Good luck and happy tractoring, Jim

I did manage to get a Roosa Master taken apart back in 91. Still in the bucket for as I know. Advise is don't try it if you are not a technician.

The kit you mention only includes minor parts, i.e. & e.g. seals, o-rings, updated housing-pressure regulator plug, and an original style governor weight retaining ring. Most high-hour pumps need more parts than that, e.g. new bushing in the drive end of the pump where the seals ride, fuel transfer pump blades and liner, metering valve, etc. Also, the original style plastic governor weight retaining ring - which has a high failure rate - can be updated to a new style that is much more durable but not included in the kit. Another thing to keep in mind is that many of the DB and JDB pumps require special tools to dissassemble, e.g. a splined wrench to take out the pivot-ball stud for the fuel advance cam ring.

Jdemaris, I had thoughts of writing a similiar reply before I read yours, I agree completely. also think books are great , tools make a world of difference, but knowledge and experience will make the tough job come out well. Been doing pumps for 30 years and still learning. george
